Built for 7th-8th graders with mountain biking experience,* our weeklong expedition camp boosts kids’ skills and confidence as they bike every day and camp out every night. Campers will pitch their tents in Curt Gowdy State Park in Wyoming, 24 miles west of Cheyenne, then spend the week on their bikes exploring its gorgeous meadows, dramatic granite formations and miles and miles of trails.
With a group of up to 13 campers and two expert instructors, riders will traverse Curt Gowdy’s extensive network of dedicated mountain biking trails, along with miles more at nearby Happy Jack Recreation Area. For up to five hours each day, they’ll build their technical, trail riding and bike maintenance skills, plus learn the fundamentals of sleeping comfortably and cooking deliciously in the great outdoors. And for a refreshing break, campers will take to the Cache la Poudre River to enjoy a day of rafting.
It’s a week of epic riding, character-building, tent camping and unforgettable fun that transforms young mountain bikers into skilled, self-assured trail shredders.
We are tracking the state and county public health orders closely. Expeditions are small, self-contained, and self-quarantining groups that are well suited for this next phase of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are hopeful to be able to run our Expeditions. Of course, depending on the changing recommendations from the CDC, state and county governments, and medical experts, we may need to cancel or adjust these programs. * Participants must have some experience biking on single-track dirt trails and uneven rocky terrain. Campers will likely be divided up by experience level during rides. We strongly encourage campers to bring their own fully tuned, well-fitted mountain bikes to increase their comfort level. If they don’t have a bike or bring one that isn’t trail-ready, they can rent from our fleet for a $50 fee.
* Departure and pick up are in Boulder, CO.
