Our one-week Adventure summer camp centers on authentic local settings at which 2nd-7th graders create thrilling, fulfilling outdoor experiences. Whether they’re returning or first-time campers, every day is a new adventure—mastering mountain biking, hiking a trail, paddling a canoe, kayak or stand-up paddleboard—and every challenge is calibrated to their age and ability. Grouped by grade range, first time and returning Adventure campers build on their skills and confidence year after year. 2nd – 4th graders concentrate on getting comfortable with new activities, with plenty of support and inspiration from our staff and returning campers. Once they reach 5th – 7th grade, campers shift their focus to teamwork, mentorship, and deepening their technical competence. Parents and campers meet staff at a consistent location daily. Avid4 Adventure provides transportation for campers to recreation areas for the adventure sport at hand. At the end of the day, groups return to the meeting place for afternoon pick up. Led by the best outdoor instructors around, campers develop the know-how and lasting self-assuredness that propel them toward a lifetime of exciting and nourishing outdoor adventure.
Campers will meet daily at the Erie Community Center for drop-off and pick-up, then take a free, supervised shuttle to our Lafayette Day Camp. Campers will enjoy the same adventures, counselors, and full Avid4 experience—now at a larger, more active site.
Drop-off for the shuttle is at 8:00 AM, with return to Erie at 3:30 PM.
Campers will then be shuttled to our Lafayette location, where all camp activities will take place. An optional After Care is available at Lafayette from 3:00–5:30 PM. Please note that After Care campers will need to be picked up at the Lafayette location: First United Methodist Church of Lafayette.

Based on our experience (and a bunch of brain science), we know that multiple sessions of Avid camp will benefit your child – it will result in greater skill development, increased self-confidence, higher levels of risk assessment/environmental awareness, and an improved ability to connect socially with others and make new friends.
While no outdoor adventure is totally risk-free, we work hard to keep your kids safe. Every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved -- what they are, how to prevent them, how to respond if something goes wrong -- so kids learn how to approach challenges with intelligence and skill.
