ARTS AND CRAFTS WITH A PURPOSE

AGE-APPROPRIATE OUTDOOR SKILL DEVELOPMENT

Our custom-designed wall is one of only two like it in the US, offering over 750 sq. ft. of climbing space on two 25′ walls. The adjustable angle accommodates all skill levels, from “never-ever” to expert.
Top Roped Climbing: Campers progress through climbs of varying difficulty while learning belaying, knot-tying, climbing techniques (like “crimping” and “side-pulls”), footwork, and mindset.
Bouldering: Climbs are categorized by difficulty over a shock-absorbing surface. Instruction focuses on safely jumping/falling before progressing to advanced techniques.
Ropework & Anchor Building: Older campers can opt to learn sport and traditional climbing skills, building equalized anchors and mastering advanced safety techniques.

Our fleet of mountain bikes is used on a track reconfigured throughout the summer for new challenges. For beginners, we offer strider bikes and a learn-to-ride progression that often gets non-riders off training wheels typically within a week. Campers will learn:
Bike Handling Skills: Improve balance, control, and technique on features like jumps, berms, and rollers.
Pump Track Technique: Learn to efficiently “pump” the track using body motion to maintain speed.
Track Awareness and Safety: Navigate features safely and build overall confidence.
Bike Trail Skills: Venture off-campus onto the adjacent bike path to apply technical learning in a real-world environment.

Every camper learns the Leave No Trace principles, understanding how to apply these vital outdoor ethics in both local recreation areas, like city parks, and remote Wilderness settings. This knowledge fosters lasting outdoor enthusiasm and environmental stewardship.

Exciting group games, from color wars to capture-the-flag, are a memorable highlight that offers unique opportunities for campers to forge lasting friendships.

Creativity meets sustainability! Campers upcycle discarded materials into unique art and design eco-friendly projects. These activities empower them to think critically about responsible consumption and resourcefulness.

Campers have weekly opportunities to develop practical outdoor skills, including:
Outdoor Cooking: Campers make a meal from scratch.
Navigation: Practice orienteering and geocaching. Outdoor First Aid: Learn basic response for illness or injury.
Leadership: Campers rotate through weekly leadership roles (e.g., Leave No Trace guru, Risk Manager).
Packing for Success: Learn what to take on a hike or multi-day adventure.

WE TAKE SAFETY SERIOUSLY

While no outdoor adventure is totally risk-free, we work hard to keep your kids safe. Every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved -- what they are, how to prevent them, how to respond if something goes wrong -- so kids learn how to approach challenges with intelligence and skill.

OUR APPROACH TO SAFETY
