Girls Mountain Biking Camp Boulder - 4th to 7th - Day Camp

In our Girls Mountain Biking Camp, campers in 4th-7th grade will experience the thrill of improving their mountain biking skills as they hit Boulder’s best trails. Over the course of five days in an encouraging, girls-only environment, you’ll master a range of outdoor biking skills, make new friends and discover all the amazing things you’re capable of.

With help from our seasoned instructors, campers spend the week practicing mountain biking skills, learning bicycle maintenance basics and traversing the terrain of some of Boulder’s best parks and trails. While we strongly encourage campers to use their own bikes, we can provide bikes (and helmets) as needed. Surrounded by a supportive community of girls, you’ll crack open a whole new well of confidence, fortifying you for a successful school year and lots of adventures yet to come.

Please note: in order to register for this program, campers MUST be able to bike confidently without training wheels on a dirt surface. If a camper does not meet this minimum skill requirement, we may move them to a different program (if space is available) or we reserve the right to remove the camper from the group and offer a credit. While we strongly encourage campers to use their own bikes, we can provide bikes (and helmets) as needed.

THE WEEK’S ADVENTURES

Technical Skills

Trail Riding

Bike Maintenance

Campers learn how to properly fit a helmet and bike, practice basic bike commands and get comfortable with technical skills including bunny hops, track stands, braking and shifting, becoming more proficient riders as they take on incremental challenges.

Places We Go: Eagle Trail, Marshall Mesa, Dowdy Draw, Flatirons Vista

We introduce campers to a range of Boulder parks and trails where they practice good trail etiquette as they learn to ride on rolling single and double track terrain, descending and ascending trail sections and narrow and winding trails.

Places We Go: Eagle Trail, Marshall Mesa, Dowdy Draw, Flatirons Vista

When they’re not riding, campers get familiar with the nuts and bolts of bike maintenance, learning to safety check their bikes, solve gear problems and change flat tires.

MEET YOUR CAMP DIRECTOR

Cassidy Morris

I love working with staff who celebrate authentic outdoor adventure and to watch the energy from our instructors get absorbed by the kids that they instruct. It is essential to introduce outdoor adventure to kids in order to give them a space to be creative, active, and true to themselves and their peers. Kids have such genuine spirits and they remind me to be my silly, humble, and compassionate self. One of my favorite moments to witness at camp is watching staff tune in to their authentic child spirit. The outdoors is where I can connect to my best self and I love being able to share it with others. In the summer, you can find me hiking or climbing all over Colorado. In the winter, I’m usually skiing in between work shifts.

Why Sign Up For Multiple Weeks?

Do you remember that old TV show Blue’s Clues? It was the most successful kids’ show of all time. Do you remember that book that your child insisted on reading over and over again? How could you forget it? Why was Blue’s Clues so successful and why did your child NEED to re-read that book? Because repetition promotes learning, growth, and empowerment.

Based on our experience (and a bunch of brain science), we know that multiple weeks of Avid camp will benefit your child – it will result in greater skill development, increased self-confidence, higher levels of risk assessment/environmental awareness, and an improved ability to connect socially with others.

WE TAKE SAFETY SERIOUSLY

While no outdoor adventure is totally risk-free, we work hard to keep your kids safe. Every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved -- what they are, how to prevent them, how to respond if something goes wrong -- so kids learn how to approach challenges with intelligence and skill.
