Stand Up Paddleboarding Camp Boulder - 2nd to 7th - Day Camp

Gaining rapidly in popularity, stand up paddleboarding is loved by many for its convenience, overall strength building, and incredible views. Our Stand Up Paddleboarding Camp gets campers out on both flat-water and whitewater, experiencing the joy of paddling with scenic perspective while building core strength. Under the guidance of our able instructors, campers will learn basic strokes, rescue techniques, river reading, and water safety as they navigate beautiful bodies of water in Colorado’s Front Range.

Campers take on challenges tailored to their ability level, progressing as they build proficiency and comfort. We group the kids by grade range—2nd – 4th graders join the Skills Camp, while 5th – 7th graders make up our Adventure Team—and give them plenty of individualized support as they develop confidence and deepen their technical skills, stroke by stroke.

Please note: SUP Day Camp campers should have some previous experience paddling in standing or moving water. In order to register for this program, campers MUST feel fully comfortable on open water and be comfortable being fully submerged in water for short periods of time. If a camper does not meet this minimum skill requirement, we reserve the right to move a camper to a different program (if space is available) or remove the camper from the group and offer a credit. If you have any questions about whether SUP Day Camp is right for your child, please give us a call at (720) 249-2412.

THE WEEK’S ADVENTURES

Flat Water

Whitewater

Places We Go: Boulder Reservoir

Campers spend their first two or three days mastering flat-water skills, getting comfortable balancing on their board, learning paddle strokes and practicing rescue techniques before they ever steer their boards towards moving water.

Places We Go: St. Vrain, Boulder Creek, Clear Creek

During the second half of the week, campers will leave flat-water behind to build knowledge and skills in moving water, practicing their technique. Please note that our paddling locations will depend on water levels and group ability.

MEET YOUR CAMP DIRECTOR

Cassidy Morris

I love working with staff who celebrate authentic outdoor adventure and to watch the energy from our instructors get absorbed by the kids that they instruct. It is essential to introduce outdoor adventure to kids in order to give them a space to be creative, active, and true to themselves and their peers. Kids have such genuine spirits and they remind me to be my silly, humble, and compassionate self. One of my favorite moments to witness at camp is watching staff tune in to their authentic child spirit. The outdoors is where I can connect to my best self and I love being able to share it with others. In the summer, you can find me hiking or climbing all over Colorado. In the winter, I’m usually skiing in between work shifts.

Why Sign Up For Multiple Weeks?

Do you remember that old TV show Blues Clues? It was the most successful kids’ show of all time. Do you remember that book that your child insisted on reading over and over again? How could you forget it? Why was Blues Clues so successful and why did your child NEED to re-read that book? Because repetition promotes learning, growth, and empowerment.

Based on our experience (and a bunch of brain science), we know that multiple weeks of Avid camp will benefit your child – it will result in greater skill development, increased self-confidence, higher levels of risk assessment/environmental awareness, and an improved ability to connect socially with others.

WE TAKE SAFETY SERIOUSLY

While no outdoor adventure is totally risk-free, we work hard to keep your kids safe. Every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved -- what they are, how to prevent them, how to respond if something goes wrong -- so kids learn how to approach challenges with intelligence and skill.

OUR APPROACH TO SAFETY
