Rock Climbing Camp Boulder - 2nd to 7th - Day Camps

Our Rock Climbing Day Camp teaches campers climbing on some of the most iconic formations in the Boulder area. Supported by our top-notch instructors, campers master the basics of climbing, knot tying, belaying, and rappelling as they ascend a variety of routes and rock types.

Campers take on activities designed just for them in teams grouped by grade — 2nd – 4th graders or 5th – 7th graders — broadening their technical skills and conquering more challenging climbs as they gain comfort and competence.

Although there are no prerequisite skills or experience needed, rock climbing campers should have a desire to climb and learn more.

As part of our Covid safety measures, we are offering two Boulder locations to limit the capacities at a camp drop-off/pick-up facility.

THE WEEK’S ADVENTURES

Climbing & Bouldering Technique

Equipment Practice

Authentic Climbing

Places We Go: Crown Rock, Elephant Buttress, Nip Tuck

Campers hone their climbing skills through bouldering practice, learning the ins and outs of climbing safety and ethics, climbing commands, proper spotting, hazard identification and footwork and body positioning techniques.

Places We Go: Crown Rock, Elephant Buttress, Nip Tuck

Campers get comfortable with carabiners, stoppers, camalots and belay devices as they practice equipment setup, traditional gear placement, identifying natural anchors, tying knots and using their helmets and harnesses at local crags.

Places We Go: Crown Rock, Elephant Buttress, Nip Tuck

Every day, we take campers out to climb at some of Boulder’s best crags, tackling a range of rock types, styles and levels of difficulty at world-renowned sites.

Why Sign Up For Multiple Weeks?

Do you remember that old TV show Blues Clues? It was the most successful kids’ show of all time. Do you remember that book that your child insisted on reading over and over again? How could you forget it? Why was Blues Clues so successful and why did your child NEED to re-read that book? Because repetition promotes learning, growth, and empowerment.

Based on our experience (and a bunch of brain science), we know that multiple weeks of Avid camp will benefit your child – it will result in greater skill development, increased self-confidence, higher levels of risk assessment/environmental awareness, and an improved ability to connect socially with others.

WE TAKE SAFETY SERIOUSLY

While no outdoor adventure is totally risk-free, we work hard to keep your kids safe. Every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved -- what they are, how to prevent them, how to respond if something goes wrong -- so kids learn how to approach challenges with intelligence and skill.

OUR APPROACH TO SAFETY
