Heather grew up paddling a canoe with her family and exploring the woods near her childhood home in Illinois. After spending several summers hiking, backpacking and living in Isle Royale National Park, a remote island in Lake Superior, she knew that she wanted to combine a career in education with her love of the outdoors. Heather earned a B.S. in Music Education from the University of Illinois, and has been rock climbing, backcountry skiing, and adventuring in and around the mountains of Colorado, Utah and Wyoming ever since. In addition to working with children at Avid 4 Adventure, Heather has taught middle school and high school band, worked as a children’s ski instructor, and taught cooking classes for kids. She loves to share adventures with children and witness their growth and self-discovery along the way.
