Expedition LBGTQ Multisport
November 30, 2022 | Amy Diiullo
In an empowering and inclusive environment, this affinity multi-sport expedition camp welcomes LGBTQ+ identifying campers and allies for a weeklong outdoor experience. Designed for campers of all experience and ability levels, campers have an opportunity to explore local landscapes, taking on a range of adventure sports by day and camping under the stars by night.
After setting up a campsite that will serve as their home base for the week, campers (no more than 13 to a group with 2 staff members) discover what the “multi” in our multi-sport program really means. Namely, embarking on a different adventure every day – biking the park’s extensive trails, standup paddleboarding, hiking, white water rafting – all the while building technical skills and fostering a deeper appreciation for the outdoors.
Beyond cooking their own meals on camp stoves to sleeping in tents, expedition teens learn to meet life’s challenges in an inclusive, safe environment where they can be themselves. From learning technical skills during the day to thoughtful reflective campfire chats in the evening, LGTBQ+ campers and teen allies will have a chance to develop transferable life lessons in a fun, emotionally safe, and supportive community.
Difficulty Rating: 1 – Entry Level Adventure: Great for newcomers and those looking to try multiple activities for a range of experiences while becoming more comfortable with recreating outside.
