Heading out to El Capitan

Dave Secunda, Avid4 Founder here. I started Avid4 Adventure with the commitment to engage kids in active outdoor lifestyles. I wanted to make sure that youth today felt comfortable, confident and drawn to outdoor environments throughout their lives. Our staff soon coined the phrase “Outside 4 Life” to describe this goal.

To that end, I’m going to put things in the capable hands of my leadership team for a couple of weeks to head out to Yosemite to climb The Nose route on El Capitan. I first climbed this classic route when I was 19 with my good friend Andy Seitz when I was working at the Outdoor Education Program at SDSU.

Last year, I called up Andy to reconnect and propose a 30 year anniversary climb. We both have full plates these days with work and kids, but our families and colleagues have supported us to set us up for success.

I’ll be posting here as the expedition progresses so you can follow along as we live the dream to continue to get Outside 4 Life!
