2023 Train The Trainers

Program Information

In 2018 we created “Train the Trainers,” a leadership training for field staff that want to become stellar, highly-compensated trainers as Avid4 grows in CO, CA, OR, WA, the Midwest, East Coast and beyond!

This program lies at the heart of many of Avid4’s mantras:

  1. Our staff are our greatest asset.
  2. Staff training is the most important week of the year.
  3. Our biggest goal is to develop new leaders.

The VISION: To support growth, Avid4 has developed a team of high-caliber and well-trained Lead Trainers that have the knowledge and passion to train across multiple disciplines in multiple states. Avid4 Lead Trainers are looked upon as an “elite” team, like Special Forces, and take pride in being entrusted with this special responsibility. They work in harmony with Avid4’s seasonal leadership team in order to deliver premium training in all states.

Lead Trainer Pay Scale

PLEASE note that time spent at the workshop is NOT paid. These rates describe what you will be paid if you complete the workshop WITH the recommendation of the Senior Trainers and serve as a LEAD Trainer.

Lead Trainers are paid the rate that correlates with their state of work/residence, not the state in which they are currently training. i.e. a person that lives in CA and works camp in CA that travels to CO to train will earn the CA Lead Trainer rate.

The Avid4 Teaching Cycle

This teaching cycle informs all that we do and will be integral to your success at the Train the Trainers workshop. Not only to we implement this cycle at camp, we train this cycle through our staff training. You will be expected to know & communicate the Avid4 Adventure teaching cycle by the end of the Train the Trainers weekend. At the end of the workshop you will be expected to show trainees how to use the cycle to teach Avid4 core sports.

  1. Introduce the Skill
  2. Practice the Skill with Fun (and often games & stories)
  3. Make Campers the Experts
    1. Ask open questions to assess understanding
    2. Ask campers to demo the skill
    3. Ask campers to teach skills to someone else

This is a CYCLE… therefore, if campers cannot show that they are experts, then start over.
