Adventure Camp Bend - 2nd to 7th - Day Camp

Our Bend Day Camp transports 2nd – 7th graders to local settings for exciting and fulfilling authentic outdoor experiences. Whether campers are brand new to adventure sports or already experienced in the outdoors, our instructors use time-tested techniques to support every ability level and build campers’ confidence. Every day brings a different adventure—mountain biking beautiful trails, balancing on a stand up paddleboard, hiking, paddling in a kayak or climbing a nearby crag.

Beyond developing their individual abilities, campers focus on teamwork, working as a group to navigate their surroundings, paddling in pairs on stand up paddleboards or helping each other transport and set up gear. As their technical know-how grows, so does their ability to communicate and thrive in team environments.

Through thoughtful guidance, campers develop the lasting skills, experience and self-assuredness to launch into a lifetime of empowering outdoor adventure. All activities take place in the beautiful outdoor areas of Bend—places you can return to for a lifetime!

Cecilia McGehee

Working with Avid4 gives me the opportunity to spend my workdays outdoors teaching youths about the importance of being in nature while respecting it. Avid4’s mission resonates with me in that I strongly believe in interacting with nature in a sustainable way that will ensure nature will be accessible for longer than a lifetime. I graduated from Phoenix College with a degree in Conservation and Natural Resource Management. I have several certifications including my Wilderness First Aid, Kayaking Safety, First Aid and CPR, ATV Driving, Wildland Fire Fighting, Chain saw, etc. I love moving and being active all day every day. Working outdoors enables me to work and live a healthy active lifestyle. I love working with kids because they are honest, hilarious and full of energy. In my free time, I love to rock climb, hike and go backpacking. In the offseason, I teach Yin and Vinyasa Yoga.

Why Sign Up For Multiple Weeks?

Do you remember that old TV show Blue’s Clues? It was the most successful kids’ show of all time. Do you remember that book that your child insisted on reading over and over again? How could you forget it? Why was Blue’s Clues so successful and why did your child NEED to re-read that book? Because repetition promotes learning, growth, and empowerment.

Based on our experience (and a bunch of brain science), we know that multiple weeks of Avid camp will benefit your child – it will result in greater skill development, increased self-confidence, higher levels of risk assessment/environmental awareness, and an improved ability to connect socially with others.

While no outdoor adventure is totally risk-free, we work hard to keep your kids safe. Every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved -- what they are, how to prevent them, how to respond if something goes wrong -- so kids learn how to approach challenges with intelligence and skill.
