The peak experience of Overnight Camps at Avid4 Adventure, our 2-week 9th-12th grade Leaders-In-Training program is designed to coach our oldest campers with leadership development, critical thinking, and self-reflection to be best prepared for the future – all while enjoying the inclusive, fun community we are known for. This group is ready to take on the best adventures we can think of as they push their limits on the Treehouse Adventure high ropes course, a 4-Day/3 Night backpacking trip, and so many more unique experiences that makes this adventure stand out from the rest – all towards building lasting knowledge and experience they can use throughout their lives. Under the supervision of our experienced instructors, our Leaders-In-Training have the opportunity to work behind the scenes in every aspect of the camp experience, from teaching outdoor activities to planning all-camp events, giving them the chance to put these lessons to use. Is your 11th grader ready for the next step in their leadership development? Entering 11th – 12th graders can apply to become part of our Staff-In-Training Expedition Program. |

Meet Your Camp Director
Meet Your Director, Claire Dunlap
Claire discovered her passion for working with kids at overnight camp in 2010 and has been in the camping industry every year since. She went to Murray State University in her home state of Kentucky, where she majored in Outdoor Recreation and Youth and Nonprofit Leadership. After college, she spent her first summer working at Southwoods, a camp in Upstate New York, as an Outdoor Adventure Instructor and quickly climbed to becoming the Director of the Outdoor Adventure program in 2012. Claire was hands-on in the program until 2017 and led her staff and campers on hiking, camping, mountain biking, caving, rock climbing, and paddling adventures all over the Adirondacks. She’s also directed programs for the YMCA and Camp Adventure, where she worked on military bases to serve in their Child Development Centers. She loves working with kids because it provides an opportunity to be a part of something bigger than herself, empowering campers to be themselves, and grow outside their comfort zones. Claire has a reputation for personal connection and creating safe, supportive environments for kids to realize their potential and discover new passions. You can find her exploring the outdoors, riding her beloved bike Windy, believing in unicorns, traveling the globe, and spending time with friends and family.
WE TAKE SAFETY SERIOUSLY
While no outdoor adventure is totally risk-free, we work hard to keep your kids safe. Every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved -- what they are, how to prevent them, how to respond if something goes wrong -- so kids learn how to approach challenges with intelligence and skill.
OUR APPROACH TO SAFETY
