Adventure Camp Lowry - 2nd to 7th - Day Camp

Our Denver Lowry Adventure Camp transports 2nd – 7th graders to authentic local settings for thrilling, fulfilling outdoor experiences. Whether they’re first-time campers or Avid4 Adventure experts, every day brings something different—mastering mountain biking, maneuvering a paddleboard, hiking a trail, paddling a canoe or kayak—and every challenge is custom-fit to their age and ability.

Grouped by grade range, campers build skills and confidence as they return year after year. 2nd – 4th graders focus on getting comfortable with new activities, with plenty of support from our staff and returning campers. Once they reach 5th – 7th grade, campers concentrate on teamwork, mentorship and deepening their technical abilities.

Led by the best outdoor instructors in the business, campers develop the know-how and lasting self-assuredness that propel them toward a lifetime of exciting and inspiring outdoor adventure.

Mountain Biking

Stand Up Paddleboarding

Places We Go: Barr Lake State Park, Aurora Reservoir

Our flat-water instruction program gives campers practice and confidence with paddling equipment and safety, getting them comfortable with the basics before taking on deeper skill building.

Places We Go: Village Greens Park, Van Bibber Park,
Hildebrand Ranch

Whether they’re first-time bikers or regular riders, we get campers familiar with biking technique, safety and equipment (plus some bicycle maintenance basics) out on local trails. Campers can bring their own bikes or borrow from our fleet, which accommodates campers of any size.

Places We Go: Star K Ranch, Lookout Mountain,
Red Rocks Park

Our hikes get campers out into nature on local trails and back to basics teaching them about the flora and fauna they encounter and the principles of Leave No Trace as they explore and gain respect for the natural world.

Places We Go: Aurora Reservoir

An increasingly popular sport, Stand Up Paddleboarding is a hit with campers of all ages. Campers will build their core strength as they learn to balance on their boards through a series of games and challenges. Our instructors will also teach proper strokes and rescue techniques.

Why Sign Up For Multiple Weeks?

Do you remember that old TV show Blue’s Clues? It was the most successful kids’ show of all time. Do you remember that book that your child insisted on reading over and over again? How could you forget it? Why was Blues Clue’s so successful and why did your child NEED to re-read that book? Because repetition promotes learning, growth, and empowerment.

Based on our experience (and a bunch of brain science), we know that multiple weeks of Avid camp will benefit your child – it will result in greater skill development, increased self-confidence, higher levels of risk assessment/environmental awareness, and an improved ability to connect socially with others.

While no outdoor adventure is totally risk-free, we work hard to keep your kids safe. Every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved -- what they are, how to prevent them, how to respond if something goes wrong -- so kids learn how to approach challenges with intelligence and skill.
