Adventure Camp Colorado Springs - 2nd to 7th - Day Camp

At our Adventure Day Camp, we transport entering 2nd – 7th graders out to authentic local settings for thrilling outdoor experiences. Whether they’re returning or first-time campers, every day is a different adventure—mountain biking, climbing, hiking, paddling—with every challenge designed to fit their age and ability.

Campers are grouped by grade, building competence and confidence as they return to our program year after year. Our 2nd – 4th graders spend the week getting comfortable with new activities, with plenty of support and inspiration from our staff and more seasoned campers. In 5th – 7th grade, campers shift their concentration to deepening their teamwork, mentorship and technical skills.

Led by our expert outdoor instructors, campers develop lasting know-how and self-assuredness, propelling them toward a lifetime of exciting and fulfilling outdoor adventure.

Places We Go: Red Rock Canyon Open Space, Garden of the Gods

We transport campers to nearby crags to learn the ins and outs of skillful scaling, including climbing techniques, equipment use and safety precautions.

Places We Go: Monument Lake, Quail Lake

A great introduction to kayaking & canoeing, our flat-water paddling program teaches campers proper strokes and rescue techniques in camper-sized kayaks and canoes. In addition to gaining comfort in the water, campers will enjoy exploring great local areas.

Places We Go: Palmer Park, Santa Fe Trail

Whether they’re first-time bikers or regular riders, we get campers familiar with biking technique, safety and equipment (plus some bicycle maintenance basics). Campers can bring their own bikes or borrow from our fleet, which accommodates campers of any size.

Places We Go: Ute Valley, North Cheyenne Cañon

Our hikes get campers out into nature and back to basics teaching them about the flora and fauna they encounter and the principles of Leave No Trace as they explore and gain respect for the natural world.

Justin Walker

Avid4’s mission resonates with all of my core values, I am a product of the great outdoors! I firmly believe that with fun and adventure, kids are given a chance to engage in our natural environment, instilling a desire for conservation, environmental stewardship and further exploration into nature’s wonders. Much like Thoreau and many other authors of the outdoors, I find solace, peace and my most electrifying happiness outdoors. I cherish the opportunity to guide others along a journey of learning and laughter through adventure sports and teaching moments outside. I love the unmatched excitement and energy that kids have! I think as we grow older it’s easy for us to lose the sense of wonder that kids have. I think we can all learn something from each other no matter our age. We should never forget to see life through the eyes of a child it keeps us mentally youthful and engaged in the wonders of life. I am a fun-loving person who is thrilled to be living my dream! I am honored to be a part of an organization that values safety, knowledge fun and adventure! I look forward to being apart of making awesome memories for you and your family this summer in beautiful Colorado!

Why Sign Up For Multiple Weeks?

Do you remember that old TV show Blue’s Clues? It was the most successful kids’ show of all time. Do you remember that book that your child insisted on reading over and over again? How could you forget it? Why was Blues Clue’s so successful and why did your child NEED to re-read that book? Because repetition promotes learning, growth, and empowerment.

Based on our experience (and a bunch of brain science), we know that multiple weeks of Avid camp will benefit your child – it will result in greater skill development, increased self-confidence, higher levels of risk assessment/environmental awareness, and an improved ability to connect socially with others.

While no outdoor adventure is totally risk-free, we work hard to keep your kids safe. Every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved -- what they are, how to prevent them, how to respond if something goes wrong -- so kids learn how to approach challenges with intelligence and skill.
