Advanced Mountain Biking Camp Boulder - 4th to 7th - Day Camp

Campers will experience the thrill of improving their mountain biking skills as they hit Boulder’s best trails in our Advanced Mountain Biking Day Camp. With help from our seasoned instructors, campers spend the week focusing on intermediate mountain biking skills such as cornering techniques, tackling drop-offs, handling uphill obstacles, using manual pumping, and riding through tricky terrain like sand, steps, rocks and more.

Advanced Mountain Biking campers should have fulfilled the prerequisites listed below. While we strongly encourage campers to use their own bikes, we can provide bikes (and helmets) as needed.

Advanced Mountain Biking Camp Prerequisites:

  • I have completed Avid4 Adventure’s Mountain Biking Single-sport Camp.
  • During the school year, I go mountain biking on my own, with family, friends, or a local riding group.
  • I can perform a pre-ride safety check on my bike.
  • I can demonstrate proper braking with hand brakes.
  • I have learned and can demo how to shift gears.
  • I can ride safely over rocky or sandy terrain.
  • I have learned and can demo how to ride uphill and downhill for extended periods.

Please note: In order to register for this program, campers MUST be able to demonstrate the prerequisite skills listed above. If a camper does not meet these minimum skill requirements, we reserve the right to move a camper to a different program (if space is available) or remove the camper from the group and offer a credit. If you have any questions about whether Advanced Mountain Biking Day Camp is right for your child, please give us a call at (720) 249-2412.

Bike Maintenance

Campers learn how to take their mountain biking to the next level, with rugged terrain, technical obstacles, off camber trails, table top jumps, and much more. While observing environmental differences, riders will embrace new biking techniques and body positions, required to tackle these new landscapes.

Places We Go: Eagle Trail, Marshall Mesa, Dowdy Draw, Flatirons Vista

We take campers out to a range of Boulders advanced trails – where they practice keeping momentum to climb hills and maintaining safe speed to roll over tricky downhill sections.

When they’re not riding, campers tackle bike maintenance, solving derailleur tension issues, adjusting chain lengths, and truing wheels. Learning to plan and prepare for the most undesirable bike issues, gives campers the knowledge they need to pack for any bike expedition.

MEET YOUR CAMP DIRECTOR

Cassidy Morris

I love working with staff who celebrate authentic outdoor adventure and to watch the energy from our instructors get absorbed by the kids that they instruct. It is essential to introduce outdoor adventure to kids in order to give them a space to be creative, active, and true to themselves and their peers. Kids have such genuine spirits and they remind me to be my silly, humble, and compassionate self. One of my favorite moments to witness at camp is watching staff tune in to their authentic child spirit. The outdoors is where I can connect to my best self and I love being able to share it with others. In the summer, you can find me hiking or climbing all over Colorado. In the winter, I’m usually skiing in between work shifts.

Why Sign Up For Multiple Weeks?

Do you remember that old TV show Blue’s Clues? It was the most successful kids’ show of all time. Do you remember that book that your child insisted on reading over and over again? How could you forget it? Why was Blue’s Clues so successful and why did your child NEED to re-read that book? Because repetition promotes learning, growth, and empowerment.

Based on our experience (and a bunch of brain science), we know that multiple weeks of Avid camp will benefit your child – it will result in greater skill development, increased self-confidence, higher levels of risk assessment/environmental awareness, and an improved ability to connect socially with others.

WE TAKE SAFETY SERIOUSLY

While no outdoor adventure is totally risk-free, we work hard to keep your kids safe. Every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved -- what they are, how to prevent them, how to respond if something goes wrong -- so kids learn how to approach challenges with intelligence and skill.

OUR APPROACH TO SAFETY
