Learn to Paddle Palo Alto - PreK to 1st - Day Camps

We made the diffucult decision to cancel our California Pre-K camps (Learn to Bike and to Learn to Paddle) for the remainder of the summer. Due to staffing shortages we needed to make this decision to ensure the continued quality and safety of all of our camps. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

Aspiring paddlers ages four to six learn the joys of being on the water in our Learn to Paddle day camp. Nurtured
by skilled, patient instructors in a supportive on-site environment, our pint-sized paddlers enjoy camper-to-staff ratios of 4:1 for lots of individual attention and paddling fun.

Campers will be introduced to both kayaking and stand up paddleboarding. They’ll get familiar with their equipment, practice paddling techniques and will gain confidence stroke by stroke.

*Learn to Paddle is a slightly shorter full day program from 9:30am-2:30pm and will meet at a local paddling area.

Why Sign Up For Multiple Weeks?

Do you remember that old TV show Blues Clues? It was the most successful kids’ show of all time. Do you remember that book that your child insisted on reading over and over again? How could you forget it? Why was Blues Clues so successful and why did your child NEED to re-read that book? Because repetition promotes learning, growth, and empowerment.

Based on our experience (and a bunch of brain science), we know that multiple weeks of Avid camp will benefit your child – it will result in greater skill development, increased self-confidence, higher levels of risk assessment/environmental awareness, and an improved ability to connect socially with others.

While no outdoor adventure is totally risk-free, we work hard to keep your kids safe. Every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved -- what they are, how to prevent them, how to respond if something goes wrong -- so kids learn how to approach challenges with intelligence and skill.
