Girls Rock Climbing Camp Palo Alto - 4th to 7th - Day Camp

Our Girls Rock Climbing Day Camp gets campers climbing, scaling some of the Bay Area’s iconic formations and learning the rock climbing ropes. Supported by our top-notch instructors, campers master the basics of knot tying, belaying, rappelling and climbing as they ascend a range of routes.

Over the course of five days in an encouraging, girls-only environment, you’ll master a range of outdoor skills, make new friends and discover all the amazing things you’re capable of. Surrounded by a supportive community of girls, you’ll crack open a whole new well of confidence, fortifying you for a successful school year and lots of adventures yet to come.

Rock Climbing campers ideally should have experienced climbing before — on a rock wall, climbing gym, or even on natural rock. Although there are no prerequisite skills or experience needed, kids should have a desire to climb and learn more.

THE WEEK’S ADVENTURES

Climbing & Bouldering Technique

Equipment Practice

Authentic Climbing

Places We Go: Castle Rock State Park, Skyline Park

Campers hone their climbing skills through bouldering practice, learning the ins and outs of climbing safety and ethics, climbing commands, proper spotting, hazard identification and footwork and body positioning techniques.

Places We Go: Castle Rock State Park, Skyline Park

Campers get comfortable with their carabiners, stoppers, camalots and belay devices as they practice equipment setup, traditional gear placement, identifying natural anchors, tying knots and using their helmets and harnesses at local crags.

Places We Go: Castle Rock State Park, Skyline Park

Every day, we take campers out to climb at some of the area’s best crags, tackling a range of rock types, styles and levels of difficulty.

Why Sign Up For Multiple Weeks?

Do you remember that old TV show Blues Clues? It was the most successful kids’ show of all time. Do you remember that book that your child insisted on reading over and over again? How could you forget it? Why was Blues Clues so successful and why did your child NEED to re-read that book? Because repetition promotes learning, growth, and empowerment.

Based on our experience (and a bunch of brain science), we know that multiple weeks of Avid camp will benefit your child – it will result in greater skill development, increased self-confidence, higher levels of risk assessment/environmental awareness, and an improved ability to connect socially with others.

WE TAKE SAFETY SERIOUSLY

While no outdoor adventure is totally risk-free, we work hard to keep your kids safe. Every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved -- what they are, how to prevent them, how to respond if something goes wrong -- so kids learn how to approach challenges with intelligence and skill.

OUR APPROACH TO SAFETY
