Girls Mountain Biking Camp Palo Alto - 4th to 7th - Day Camp

In our Girls Mountain Biking Camp, campers experience the thrill of mastering mountain biking as they hit the trails. Over the course of five days in an encouraging, girls-only environment, 4th-7th graders master a range of outdoor biking skills, make new friends and discover all the amazing things you’re capable of all while learning bicycle maintenance basics and traversing the terrain of some of the Peninsula’s best parks and trails.

While we strongly encourage campers to use their own bikes, we can provide bikes (and helmets) as needed. Surrounded by a supportive community of girls, you’ll crack open a whole new well of confidence, fortifying you for a successful school year and lots of adventures yet to come.

Please note: We strongly encourage campers to use their own bikes. We provide bikes and helmets for all campers who do not have a bike or choose not to use their own bike. In order to register for this program, campers MUST be able to bike confidently without training wheels on a dirt surface. If a camper does not meet this minimum skill requirement, we reserve the right to move a camper to a different program (if space is available) or remove the camper from the group and offer a credit.

Places We Go: Pearson-Arastradero, Windy Hill, Corte de Madera, Coyote Hills, Monte Bello Open Space

Campers learn how to properly fit a helmet and bike, practice basic bike commands and get comfortable with technical skills including bunny hops, track stands, braking and shifting, becoming more proficient riders as they take on incremental challenges.

Places We Go: Pearson-Arastradero, Windy Hill, Corte de Madera, Coyote Hills, Monte Bello Open Space

We introduce campers to a wide range of parks and trails where they practice good trail etiquette as they learn to ride on rolling single and double track terrain, descending and ascending trail sections and narrow and winding trails.

When they’re not riding, campers get familiar with the nuts and bolts of bike maintenance, learning to safety check their bikes, solve gear problems and change flat tires.

Why Sign Up For Multiple Weeks?

Do you remember that old TV show Blue’s Clues? It was the most successful kids’ show of all time. Do you remember that book that your child insisted on reading over and over again? How could you forget it? Why was Blue’s Clues so successful and why did your child NEED to re-read that book? Because repetition promotes learning, growth, and empowerment.

Based on our experience (and a bunch of brain science), we know that multiple weeks of Avid camp will benefit your child – it will result in greater skill development, increased self-confidence, higher levels of risk assessment/environmental awareness, and an improved ability to connect socially with others.

While no outdoor adventure is totally risk-free, we work hard to keep your kids safe. Every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved -- what they are, how to prevent them, how to respond if something goes wrong -- so kids learn how to approach challenges with intelligence and skill.
