Adventure Camp Palo Alto - 2nd to 7th - Camp On The Go

2nd-7th graders venture out with our Adventure Day Camp to local settings for fulfilling authentic outdoor experiences. Whether campers have never tried adventure sports or already have experience, our instructors support them to build new skills in stand up paddleboarding, hiking, and kayaking. Sports take place at scenic local spots that can be returned to for years to come!

Beyond developing their individual abilities, campers focus on teamwork, working as a group to navigate their surroundings, paddling in pairs on stand-up paddleboards, or helping each other transport and set up gear. As their technical know-how grows, so does their ability to communicate and thrive in team environments.

Camp On The Go is similar to our traditional Day Camps. The big difference is, instead of meeting us at a local school, you’ll meet us directly at a local recreation area for a day of outdoor sports and activities.

*This session is two weeks long.

Places We Go: Port of Redwood City

Our flat-water kayaking instruction in the South Bay gives campers practice and confidence with paddling equipment and safety, getting them comfortable with the basics before taking on deeper skill building. Not to mention it’s lots of fun!

Places We Go: Arastradero Park, Rancho San Antonio, Huddart Park

On stunning local trails in scenic, nearby sites campers get out into nature and back to basics. They learn about flora and fauna and Leave No Trace principles as they explore and deepen their understanding of the world around them.

Campers build strength and balance on stand up paddleboards, where they play games and gain confidence on the water at local destinations.

Why Sign Up For Multiple Weeks?

Do you remember that old TV show Blue’s Clues? It was the most successful kids’ show of all time. Do you remember that book that your child insisted on reading over and over again? How could you forget it? Why was Blue’s Clues so successful and why did your child NEED to re-read that book? Because repetition promotes learning, growth, and empowerment.

Based on our experience (and a bunch of brain science), we know that multiple weeks of Avid camp will benefit your child – it will result in greater skill development, increased self-confidence, higher levels of risk assessment/environmental awareness, and an improved ability to connect socially with others.

WE TAKE SAFETY SERIOUSLY

While no outdoor adventure is totally risk-free, we work hard to keep your kids safe. Every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved -- what they are, how to prevent them, how to respond if something goes wrong -- so kids learn how to approach challenges with intelligence and skill.

OUR APPROACH TO SAFETY
