Learn to Bike!

Denver Lowry – Learn to Bike!

Aspiring cyclists age three and a half to six learn the joys of self-sufficient cycling in our half-day Learn to Bike! day camp. Led by knowledgeable instructors in a nurturing on-site environment, our pint-sized pedalers experience 5:1 camper-to-staff ratio for plenty of personalized coaching.

We group kids by level and meet them exactly where they are, helping them progress from scooting to coasting to pedaling as they get comfortable on two wheels. We balance their days with games giving campers plenty of opportunity for fun and confidence building both off and on their bikes.

Learn to Bike! is designed for first-time riders or those using training wheels or balance bikes. While campers are encouraged to use their own wheels, they can also borrow a bike from our fleet.

THE WEEK’S ADVENTURES

Biking

Our carefully crafted program leads kids through a progression of skills—walking their bikes, scooting downhill, coasting with their feet up, touching the pedals and finally pedaling—building the know-how they need to bike confidently on their own.

Why Sign Up For Multiple Weeks?

Do you remember that old TV show Blue’s Clues? It was the most successful kids show of all time. Do you remember that book that your child insisted on reading over and over again? How could you forget it. Why was Blues Clue’s so successful and why did your child NEED to re-read that book? Because repetition promotes learning, growth, and empowerment.

Based on our experience (and a bunch of brain science), we know that multiple weeks of Avid camp will benefit your child – it will result in greater skill development, increased self-confidence, higher levels of risk assessment/environmental awareness, and an improved ability to connect socially with others.

WE TAKE SAFETY SERIOUSLY

While no outdoor adventure is totally risk-free, we work hard to keep your kids safe. Every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved -- what they are, how to prevent them, how to respond if something goes wrong -- so kids learn how to approach challenges with intelligence and skill.

OUR APPROACH TO SAFETY
