Our Culture Of Inclusivity

Our current JEDI/BIPOC Action Steps

Avid4 Adventure is committed to creating and maintaining a diverse, inclusive, welcoming, and equitable environment for all. This begins with embracing a diversity of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, military status, age, socioeconomic status, outdoor experience, and life experience.

We believe that diversity helps to provide our campers and our staff with the perspectives and skills they need to thrive in a complex, multicultural, and increasingly connected world.  We believe that as a leader in the youth outdoor adventure industry, we must also lead in the realm of inclusion and equity.

We recognize that the staff and participants within the outdoor education and summer camp industries have traditionally been largely people of privilege.  We recognize that people with less privilege have historically felt excluded and even unsafe at some outdoor programs and camps.

In an effort to not only make Avid an incredible place for all people but also to be a part of a greater change in our industry, we strive to do the following:

Our Commitment To Inclusion

Seek out people from all communities when we have job openings.

Remove barriers to entry for people seeking to break into the outdoor industry.

Bring diversity and equity into leadership roles.

Provide training, professional development, and support to help staff with future professional and personal endeavors in the outdoors.

Work with external organizations and individuals to deliver top quality Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) training for our staff.

Remove financial barriers for families wanting to attend camp by maintaining a robust financial assistance and scholarship program.

Continue to be an organization that values the perspectives and contributions of all people.

For every individual (camper, staff, or parent), create a culture of community, humility, and open communication from the moment they begin interacting with Avid.

We continue to maintain and take the Outdoor CEO Diversity Pledge with In Solidarity Project to help hold ourselves accountable.

We provide affordable health insurance options (medical, dental, and mental health) to ALL staff, including seasonal staff who can hold on to that coverage even after the summer.
