Avid4 Adventure Update on COVID-19 Last Updated: April 1, 2020

Through this unique and novel time, the safety of our campers, families, and staff remains our highest priority.

Our goal at Avid4 Adventure is to continue our proactive contingency planning, while also monitoring the latest information from public health officials.  I want to share some of the actions Avid4 Adventure is taking to prepare and protect campers, families, and our staff, plus how we are adjusting our cancellation policy so your family can continue making summer camp plans with confidence.

Below are the questions we anticipate you might have. Visit our COVID-19 Help Center page for the most up to date information on how we are preparing.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to email us at info@avid4.com or give us a call at 720-249-2412.

I want my kids to do something active while I work this summer and I also want flexibility. But, things are so uncertain right in our lives right now. Can you help?

We recognize that this whole situation is full of uncertainty. Uncertainty brings stress into your life and we want to help alleviate any stress you have about signing up for camp. Fortunately, our cancellation policy allows you to sign up for camp stress-free. If you need to cancel your registration at ANY time (even after camp begins), no worries – we have NO CANCELLATION FEES and we will give you 100% of your purchase price as transferable credit for any future Avid4 program through the end of next summer.

What’s your cancellation/refund policy?
If you need to cancel your registration at ANY time (even after camp begins), no worries – we have NO CANCELLATION FEES and we will give you 100% of your purchase price as transferable credit for any future Avid4 program through the end of next summer. You can read our full cancellation policy here.

Do you anticipate any interruptions to your summer programs?

Our guess is that your big, big worry is likely, “Hmm, what happens if summer camps are totally canceled?! What do I do with my kid(s) then?!” Again, we want to be of support. We have not canceled any camps right now. However, because we recognize that that may become a reality, we are already planning contingency programming for your kids to make sure you have camp in some fashion this summer! More information on these program options will be shared in the future.

Why should I send my kids to camp this summer?

  • This outbreak and the associated media blitz has been trying on all of us. We are all hearing so much messaging, much of which focuses on fear and isolation. We know that this messaging can create various levels of difficulty, disconnection, disempowerment, and perhaps despair.
  • That being said, we are proud that Avid4 summer camps create safety, fun, connection (to others and the world around us), empowerment, and hope. We are proud to be able to fulfill these needs – for kids, for parents, and for our staff.
  • We are also proud that Avid4 summer camps are inherently safer than many places right now. At Avid4 camps, kids are outside, in small groups, and with highly credentialed and trained staff.

What are you doing to ensure the health and wellness of students and staff?

  • Our team is in on-going communications with local health departments, the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the American Camp Association (ACA), and other childcare providers to determine various proactive and preventive health and safety measures.
  • Fortunately, we have always had specific communicable disease and hygiene policies and procedures at camp. And, based on the advice we continue to receive from various healthcare experts, we will finalize our specific procedures for this summer regarding prevention/protection, and communicate that information with you proactively.
  • Health checks (both through pre-camp calls/screening and on-site screening), hand washing, and strict “feeling sick” policies will be in place at all camps for all campers and all staff. Read the full list of procedures here.
  • To support our staff, and to protect our whole community, we will support paid sick time leave for all of our staff.

As this situation continues to develop, rest assured that we commit to making decisions with our campers, families, employees, and communities as our highest priority.
